Queensland Security Grant: Get Up to $20,000 to Upgrade Your Business Security

- 4 min read
If you’ve been putting off upgrading your security system, now is the time to act.
The Queensland Security Grant: Secure Communities Partnership Program provides $5,000 to $20,000 (ex GST) to help businesses improve security. Program extended - Applications close 30 June 2026 (or until funding is fully allocated).
The Key Fact Most Businesses Miss
This is a 50/50 co-contribution grant.
That means:
Minimum grant: $5,000
Minimum project spend: $10,000 (ex GST)
You must match the funding dollar-for-dollar
Simple Example
Your Spend | Government Pays | Total Upgrade |
$5,000 | $5,000 | $10,000 system |
$10,000 | $10,000 | $20,000 system |
$20,000 | $20,000 | $40,000 system |
If your project is under $10,000 you won’t qualify.
Why The Queensland Security Grant Is Worth It
Most businesses look at this the wrong way. They think:
“I only want to spend $5K”
The smarter approach:
Double your system for the same out-of-pocket cost, future proofing your security for years to come.
Example:
Planned spend: $5,000 → basic system
With grant: $10,000 system → you still only pay $5,000
✔ Better coverage ✔ Better protection ✔ Future-proof system
What You Can Use the Grant For
The grant is designed for new installs and upgrades such as:
CCTV systems
Alarm systems (smart systems like AJAX)
Access control (keypads, intercoms, remote access)
Integrated smoke detectors (AJAX Only)
Business Eligibility
To qualify, your business must be:
Located in Queensland, targeting Sunshine Coast and Noosa
Employing less than 20 employees
Have an annual turnover of $10 million or less (in the 2024–25 financial year)

What You’ll Need to Apply
Keep it simple, here’s what most businesses need:
Business details (ABN, registration)
Proof of location (lease or ownership)
A security quote (this is where we help)
Crime impact requirement
Your business must have been significantly impacted by crime in the last 3 years — proven through a police report and/or crime‑related insurance claim.
Some guidelines also accept businesses operating within ~250 m of nearby crime impacts.
Evidence of crime risk, such as:
Past incidents
Police reports (if available)
Photos or written summary of issues
Basic explanation of why you need the upgrade
How Long Does The Application Take?
Realistically:
1 - 2 hours total effort for most business owners
Evidence gathering: ~30 - 60 mins
Application form: ~30 - 45 mins
With the right guidance, it’s straightforward.
